When you work in the email business, you ought to subscribe to a lot of newsletter services and websites. That way you can see what others are doing. Take note of all the good things they do and also the bad things they do.
Here’s one that irritates me the most… the “no-reply” reply address.
First things first, it’s called a reply address… putting a no-reply there is just wrong. I often see bugs, mistakes and more in the newsletter I receive and I always enjoy replying to inform the company of their error… If I can’t reply, well, then too bad for them.
Lets imagine that you received an unwanted mail. There is no link to unsubscribe… or WORSE, they force you to go to their website to login and unsubscribe there… well if nothing works, usually you can always reply on the mail to ask gently an un-subscription… Imagine the frustration of a no-reply! Don’t think it doesn’t happens, I get one of those almost everyday!
In other words, to get happy campers, always have the following in your mails:
- A mirror link to see the mail online
- The customer’s email witch he used to subscribed
- A direct link to unsubscribe
- a reply address OR a contact email for any questions…
I wish you all good campaigns…
